Receiving weather satellite images direct from space has been one of my hobbies, for many years. The first system I built was a handbuilt VHF receiver connected to a decoder and 32k BBC computer which displayed the low resolution APT pictures. My current pc system receives ku-band DVB-S re-transmitted data from MSG, Meteosat, GOES, NOAA and Metop-A weather satellites.
